Back in 1996 when my youngest daughter was in playgroup, I was talked into joining the committee and volunteered as a parent helper. Once she started school, I was offered a paid position.

Little did I know that this would be the start of a 25 year career and love of Early Years! I began my studies and achieved the first of many child development and early learning qualifications. In 2000 I took the plunge and applied for the position of playleader at Clyst Valley Preschool, becoming manager a few years later and completing my degree & post graduate qualification.

Having taken on the administrative duties during Covid, and with my husband taking early retirement, in 2023 I decided to step back from the role of manager and focus on the administrative side of our preschool.

I have found working with young children and their families incredibly fulfilling; very often we are the first person outside of the family with whom a child builds a relationship with and trusts. To be able to contribute to and support a young child’s learning and development as well as see their curiosity, awe, skills & knowledge grow is just the best!

Qualifications

• Qualifications – DPP – Diploma in Preschool Practice
• Foundation Degree – Early Years
• BA (Hons) – Early Childhood Studies
• EYP – Early Years Professional Status
